MUSIC STUDIES IN NYC - IIRIS KOKKO

I have been fortunate enough to receive at place to study Audio Technology / Music Production at the NYC campus of SAE Institute.
Studying music and sound has simply always been the biggest dream of mine, as ever since childhood I have been playing saxophone, singing and experimenting with music. To me, music is that universal language that unite and heal people, and make our everyday lives better.
The past years I have been working mainly for improving the condition of urban cultures in Helsinki Finland, and the industry hasn't allowed me to make much of savings for the music studies. I can't get a loan on my own and my family can't help me either.
The course will begin in the mid October. This is a once in a life time opportunity so I decided to try the last chance: Go Fund Me.
Through my work I have always wanted to bring happiness, consciousness and joy to people. I currently have my own radio show 'Kokkofly' on a nationwide radio station, 'Bassoradio', which has been running for the past 1,5 years, and I have also actively been working as a DJ for almost a year now.
During my radio career, I have been able to interview big stars such as Erykah Badu, Wiz Khalifa, Apollo Brown & Skyzoo and Princess Nokia, and I still keep in touch with some of those artists. They are all very unique people doing their own thing, and have had the courage to reach towards the stars. I come from a small Northern Country but I feel like there is more to reach and pursue, and I want to see what kind of possibilities a different surrounding will provide.
The support of these artists will with no doubt help me develop my career in the business, as well as my other contacts and connections in New York City. During my last time in the city I got to meet and exchange contacts with the owner of the legendary Blue Note Bar & B.B. Kings and staff from Kitsuné, and I am hoping to get a work placement in one of these places.
As a DJ, I have played in almost all of the biggest venues in Helsinki, such as Kaiku, Kuudes Linja, Tavastia, Semifinal, Circus, Siltanen, and Beerger. I have also played alongside artists such as Azealia Banks, and have had the opportunity to work as a gig DJ for some artists. I have used my saxophone frequently to create unique sets for the crowds to experience. Last summer I was responsible for the music production for the Helsinki Fashion Week and managed the whole music department. My playlists have been published worldwide, recently in Glamour South-Africa.
Studies in SAE Institute will provide me with an invaluable set of skills and abilities, which will make my journey in an international music industry possible. The school has a great reputation, and the alumni include many established producers in the industry, for example Michael Ashby - Cardi B 'Bodak Yellow'. As it stands there is a lack of females working in music production, but I want to change the game. We absolutely need more girls producing outstanding music. It is a big personal goal of mine to be able to produce my own album from start to finish.
The total cost of the school is 27 000 U.S dollars and it would cover all the lectures, all the most used music programs, books and materials, unlimited studio-time, and a new laptop and headphones. The course lasts for 12 months.
Please help me to be part of the revolution by participating the journey. If I get the first 8000 dollars by the end of October, the rest of the money can be collected during the next 6 months. If 1350 people donate 20 dollars, my whole school fee will be covered. If 540 people donate 50 dollars, the result is the same. The rest of the money I am asking for is to cover the gofundme.com's fees.
