In 2012 I finished the writing of a musical called “Community Theatre” based on 10 years of acting in and supporting of the Bedford Community Theatre in Bedford, New York. The work went through several readings but for a variety of reasons it was never staged. The most important reason was that while I had written the music I couldn’t afford the expense of having it professionally arranged. I then shelved the project but did publish the script on Kindle. Recently I was contacted out of the blue by a theatre company that is interested in considering the staging of the work, but again, the music still needs to be arranged. I am retired and living on limited means and can not justify the expense of paying for a professional arranger to do the job. I think my show would be a wonderful option for staging by community theatres throughout the country as it tells their story in many ways. Also, seeing it staged would fulfill a lifelong dream to contribute something of worth and merit to the arts. The process should take no more than a year and could make “Community Theatre” available to theatre groups everywhere once our current health crisis passes. If I could get the funds in the next few months I probably could retain the interest of the theatre group currently interested. Also, I would be happy to share the script with anyone who would be willing to contribute to this cause.
