Hi Everyone,
As some of you guys already know, I have been having a lot of pain episodes, from what we believed and had been told, was from my sickle cell lately. However, on last Friday, October 27, I became very ill & was rushed to the hospital. My condition was very bad at that time & I had to be transferred to another hospital (50 miles from home) that was able to handle my sickness. From that moment we received devastating news regarding my health. The doctors diagnosed me with Leukemia. In just the 4 days that I have been hospitalized here now, I have already been started on chemo & have had a bone marrow biopsy to determine the exact type of Leukemia that it is. We are currently still waiting on the biopsy results to come back. The doctors have told me that I will be hospitalized for at least the next 4-5 weeks, (could be more or less)& that I will be undergoing aggressive chemo & lots of testing, and I will be unable to see my girls during that time also. This includes...wiping out my complete white blood cell count, which will result in me becoming extra ill, losing my hair, and possibly being unable to fight off infections. Although my family & I know that this is the best place for me right now, needless to say, we are all very shocked by this & very nervous for what is to come. Our 3 girls are definitely our main concern. Calvin & I are very worried about how we will be able to take care of the girls on his income alone & manage to still be able to pay rent, bills & medical costs that will soon be coming in.
