Murph4MS

Tax deductible

Are you looking forward to getting back in shape for this summer after being cooped up in lock-down for several months? Are you open to trying a new type of exercise that not only challenges you and pushes your limits but raises awareness and funds for a good cause? This is the inaugural year of Murph4MS, a team-based fundraising initiative where anyone across the country commits to completing a “Murph” workout throughout the month of July. Join the team  and participate in the challenge or simply make a donation. All proceeds go to the MS Society of Canada, where for every dollar donated, 49 cents will be funneled into research and specialty programs. This exceeds the 35% threshold set by the Charities Directorate's Guide.

THE CHALLENGE

Every day throughout the month of July, my team and I will be completing a highly intense, full-body workout called Murph. Murph is an extreme workout that consists of a 1-mile run, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 squats, and another 1 mile run. The ideal goal is to attempt the workout each day, however, you may scale it down as much as you please. We’ll be partnering with gyms across the country so you can participate in Murph4MS with others at your gym, but you can also do it at home. On July 3rd, everyone who wants to participate will do a Murph. This way, anyone that only wants to complete the workout once will have an opportunity to complete it on a specific day. This workout is also not something that you can do overnight, so some training is advised. I will be providing a full training guide for how to prepare and work each muscle group. The workout "Murph" is named after Michael Murphy, who served as a Navy lieutenant. I chose Murph as the workout because it works several areas of the body that can be affected by MS (legs, arms, etc...), and for its high caliber of intensity.

WHY MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS (MS)?

MS or Multiple Sclerosis is a neurological disease that affects the nervous system in several parts of the body. It affects more than 93,000 Canadians and over 2.3 million people across the globe. I chose MS for this cause because Canada is one of the most affected countries by this disease and for my father. My Dad was diagnosed with MS over 10 years ago and has played a substantial role in my life. Having seen the effects of the disease from my own eyes each day encourages me to help make a change! He has helped the MS Society of Canada greatly over the past couple of years and now it's my turn to give back. MS is physically debilitating and this cause is to encourage people to go out and be physically able. MS weakens several parts of the body and interferes with transmissions between nerves. This fundraiser will help show how severely MS can impact a person's life. All proceeds will directly go to the MS Society of Canada. The MS Society of Canada is the leading research and development organization in all of Canada. Donate today, every dollar counts!

WHO WE ARE

Our vision is a world free of multiple sclerosis. Our mission is to connect and empower the MS community to create positive change. I have spearheaded an initiative that joins my love for fitness with spreading awareness of MS and raising funds for research. My dad, who has played a major role in my life, has been battling MS for the past 10 years. He has always been there for me and continues to push through his day-to-day life while fighting this horrible disease. I have looked up to him my whole life and his determination, empathy and love have truly inspired me to help give back to the community. Any proceeds will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause and for helping fight for an MS-free future. Help make a change by donating today !
