Hercules Surgery

Donation protected
Our poor FurBaby Hercules could use some help! Hercules is a passionate, loyal, loving and sweet boy! He was the perfect match to our family and we knew it was meant to be from day one! He is the same age as our youngest boy 5 and they are two peas in a pod. Herclues has a passion for running and not like chasing a ball at the dog park running. More like track running! He could run a unbelievable 60km hour with the biggest smile on his face! Loved every minute even knew once we were close to the running spot lol he would cry and cry till we let him out of the car! Plenty of laughs watching how excited he would get to go for a run!

How our fur baby injured himself:

Hercules last trip out for a run, my boy was doing his thing ears flopping tongue hanging out but then I noticed only 3 legs moving! He didn't stop or make any sound no sign of him injuring himself until he got closer to me. I just knew there was something wrong! We have been down our fair share of pulled muscles and ripped pads or nails! This time it was different! His pupils were huge could barely see the color in his eyes! I knew his face was saying mom I hurt help me. So away we went to our regular vet to give him a good look over. His diagnosis was a Ruptured cruciate ligament in his right rear hind end but we would have to go somewhere else for a second opinion and potential surgery...... TPLO surgery which I had never heard of before! Needless to say I was in tears for my boy!

Onto the next stage of finding a Vet to trust with my boy! I was recommended to the same place a few times so that's where we decided to book! So now a week till Hercules  could see Tom the specialist in TPLO injuries and surgery! So a week of hopping around of 3 legs no playing and lots of crate time! We got to meet with the amazing Tom who gave Hercules a great look over! He performed a test on Hercules knee called a "drawer slide"! Hercules knee should stay stable if the cruciate ligament is still intact! We'll that definitely didn't happen, Hercules  knee slide right put like you would pull a drawer out of a dresser! It was gross and painful to watch! But this told us forsure his ligament had totally let go and Hercules knee was no longer stable and rubbing bone on bone!

Option to fix our poor hurting boy is Surgery! This surgery is in the ball park of $3600 - $4000with no complications and everything goes well! Hercules will need a steel plate put in to support his knee and a portion of his tibia will be cut out to fit his knee in with the plate supporting his new knee joint! If all goes well Hercules should recover wonderfully and with hopes of standing on his new bionic leg within 2 days! They say the hardest part will be keeping him slow for the first few months!

Without the surgery he will never use is leg again and possibly could rupture his other cruciate ligament from over compensating! Asking for hand out is not anything we ever do! So this is a hard ask for our little family! With Matt starting a new job and covid taking its toll leaves us in a unforseen circumstance! We just want to do all we can to make sure Hercules can have the surgery he needs to continue living a full and happy life with his favorite humans! His Humans sure love him alot and we can't bare to see our boy going through this crumy situation!

To those of you who read this far Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! Much much love to you all in the Crazy Covid Christmas Season!

Please share share share! A share can go a long way to help in anyway!
