Hello there!
I'm Munira, a 17 year old Pakistani girl who went to the US as an exchange student just a year ago, through the Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study Program. During my time as an exchange student, I did many things which include being a Girl Scout, doing more than 100 hours of community service, participating in the International Education Week, participating in the Better Understanding for a Better World Conference in Orlando, getting a Student Of the Quarter Award at my host high school and most importantly, what I consider my greatest achievement, building a lifelong bond with my host family, which has now become MY family, and of course all the other ties I built with people in my host community. All the way, from the beginning to the end of it, I tried my best to be a peaceful ambassador of my country and culture and to understand the American culture as much as possible with an open mind.
It's been a year since that journey ended and currently, I am doing my A Levels at Roots Millennium School in Peshawar, Pakistan. I am studying three subjects; Law, Sociology and English Language. I am also a member of many school clubs like the Adventure Club, Girl Up Club and am presiding two clubs myself, the Debating and Declamation Society and the Law and Mooting Society. I am also a member of the Student Council and am planning on running for Head Girl this year (wish me luck)!
I am also a Girl Guide and teach free English Speaking classes to people in my neighborhood, I love it!
I recently got the news of my acceptance into the Yale Young Global Scholars Program that's held at Yale University every year, which is a HUGE honor for me. I got into the International Affairs and Security Session which is exactly what I wanted. I am so excited!
Now, I need your help to make it there! I have to pay for my travel expenses myself and some amount to the university as well which are quite big amounts for my parents to pay and I don't want to miss out on this once in a lifetime opportunity just because of not being able to pay.
Please help me out with whatever amount of money you can and I promise you, you won't regret it.
Remember, every penny takes me a step closer to my dream of being at Yale this summer! And, please do not procrastinate, I need the money gathered as soon as possible so that I can start getting things done.
