Andre Mungin Obituary and Vistation Information

Whether it's cheering for Macie at a Volleyball game, creating bars and beats, or making BBQ...we can always count on Dre to come up with something creative to put a smile on our faces. He always has a funny story, a video to show you, a playlist to share, and sage advice to contribute to the conversation.  Give. Give. Give.  He's had our backs through it all, and now it's time for us to return the favor.

We all know Dre is a private person, so details about his medical stay are going to be minimal - but, here is a little bit of information about what is going on.

March 1st, he went in for a surgery as he was feeling really under the weather and in a massive amount of pain. Unfortunately, things didn't go as planned. His diabetes/kidney failure, and compromised immune system has made it hard for his body to fight to recover - and over the course of the past week he has: stopped breathing, become septic, suffered from a massive infection to the surgery site, and found himself in a life-threatening situation and on 24 hour dialysis.  In the middle of all of this Dre is also still on the donor list for a new kidney and pancreas.

He's currently in intensive care at Nebraska Medical. (If you are interested in visiting, we ask you coordinate this through Kim, Kevin, or Christian at this time) He is not able to speak or communicate consistently, but we remain hopeful - it's the only way to be! Hand squeezes are promising, and he has been opening his eyes more lately. Also, please note: patients in ICU are not allowed to have flowers/plants/balloons in their rooms.

As you can imagine, 2 weeks and counting in the hospital has been tough on the entire family, and his close friends. We are unsure of when he and Kim will be able to return to work, but looking ahead - we know having some help with finances will be needed. So many forgotten costs add up: gas/multiple trips to the hospital each day, eating out because of exhaustion, and honestly - things we're too tired to list.

Recovery is going to be long and costly. The future is unsure. But, in the meantime - we want to make sure Kim and Macie don't need to worry about covering unexpected expenses, deductibles, and anything insurance decides to fight.

We know Dre's broad shoulders hold a heavy load when it comes to being there for friends, family, work, and hiding the pain he experiences daily with his health. Please help us lift some of the burden on those closest to him while he's fighting to survive, recover, and return to a new normal by donating what you can.

If you are unable to give, we absolutely understand...sharing this fundraiser via email or social media would be just as valuable for us. We are forever grateful for your prayers, thoughts, and positive energy during this tough time. Keep the good thoughts coming...Dre never gives up, and neither will we!

Thank you,
Dre's Family
