Carantula and The Mungeon at AfrikaBurn

I am helping to raise funds to assist my AfrikaBurn camp in realizing our dream of building our art car, the Carantula & Mungeon. Any donation amount would be greatly appreciated.

Purpose of this campaign
I’ve been part of CEXx camp for the past 2 AfrikaBurns, and joining for my 3rd this coming end of April.
Half of our 30 campmates are international, not located in Cape Town, and therefore unable to participate in the build days and prep leading up to AfrikaBurn.
My goal is the relieve the pressure on the Cape Town crew from having to spend time and energy on creating various local fundraisers, and instead be able to dedicate their efforts on building the art car & doing other prep for our shared AfrikaBurn experience and offerings.

Current Build status & Budget
The CPT crew has been hosting a few Build Weekends, and are progressing quite nicely!
Jan 12th, work progressed a little further with final technical design/build decisions made and the cutting list for the metal frame finalized. It’s time to start buying more of the materials that are needed, hence the need for active fundraising at this time.

The best place to follow our progress and see recent photos is on our Facebook page here.

In the interests of transparency, our fundraising budget at the moment looks like this:
Total estimated build budget = R 77,500 = $7,400 CAD
Funds raised to date = R 22,900 = $2,200 CAD
Remaining target for fundraising = R 54,600 = $5,200 CAD
I've marked a goal of $2,000 for this campaign, but of course, anything above that will be amazing, and help us reach our actual cost goals.

Optional payment options
To avoid this site's processing fees, you can send donations directly to me at, either by Interac e-trsf if you bank in Canada, or by Paypal.

About CEXx camp & the art car
The team building and gifting Carantula and The Mungeon to the Burn, are the same team who are behind the hugely successful CEXx Theme camp. Carantula and The Mungeon will act as an extension of Camp CEXx taking the Consensual, Educational, eXploration of seX elements of CEXx out onto the playa.

Our Mutant Vehicle is made up of two parts: The Mungeon (our mobile dungeon) which is a 7 meter long trailer-based cage which will provide a mobile workshop and gifting space, as well as a platform for performers; and Carantula which is the SUV-based tow vehicle for The Mungeon, which will be transformed into a large black spider that will be prowling the playa day and night.

During the day time, The Mungeon will be used as a demonstration and education area where the CEXx team are looking to take many of their demonstrations and training workshops out to the playa and the open spaces of AfrikaBurn. We would like to run daily consent workshops in The Mungeon as well as some of the rest of our educational programme which may include Shibari demonstrations, Polyamory discussions, Tantric Meditations and other sensual and liberating workshops and performances. We will also welcome other burners who are looking for a space to enable them to gift to the burn,

During the night time, The Mungeon will be used as a venue for a variety of performances, which may include Burlesque dancing, Shibari and/or suspensions, sensual wax plays, and demonstrations of light and sensual impact play. We will also be offering the space for other burners wishing to gift performances and who would like to use our space to do so.

Creating two art cars over and above a large Theme Camp is a costly undertaking. We are fundraising to cover some of the costs that the campmates themselves are unable to afford.

Concept drawings
One of our camp mates, the incredibly talented Tristan, author and creator of Art of Tristan Night and @worldofwitchtown, has been sketching up some conceptual art of our art car. Hope you are as excited as we are at the plans to bring these concepts to playa!

Thank you in advance so much for any donation or sharing of this campaign.
