South Africa Trip May 15th

Hey everyone! Im Alex and I was recently introduced to a volunteer program thanks to my roommate. The program is called ISV, international student volunteers. I will be traveling to South Africa with 12 other students from CSU to work on conservation and community development projects. I am currently a zoology student pursuing a career in the veterinary field. This will be an amazing opportunity to get close with animals and really be able to make a difference. Its a dream of mine to travel and work with animals but I need a little help to get there. Through gofundme anyone can donate money that will collect into an account. -Game park management for Elephants, Rhinos, Lions, Leopards and Buffalos
-Conservation of endangered species and habitats
-School and playground building for underprivileged children
-Surveying and monitoring African animals
-Protection of fragile ecosystems within game reserves
-Sustainable development in rural communities
-Health and education programs in rural areas
-Recreation with children to encourage self-development
-Create a community garden for sustainable food production
Why?
Throughout my life I have encountered many difficult situations, as many of you have too. I know that these hard times in life has really changed my perspective and given me strength. I have learned to truly appreciate all of the great aspects of my life and all of the amazing opportunities I am presented. Being able to have the chance to give others opportunities that they otherwise may not be able to have is an amazing rewarding opportunity for myself. I have been privileged enough to grow up with an education and the daily needs, such as food and water, that others aren't as privileged to be so accessible to. For animals and ecosystems, this program gives them a voice that they don't have and people that are willing to fight and protect them. For communities, this program impacts the everyday lives of the people. I want to be able to see in one of those children how I can change some aspect of their life for the better. Over the summer I worked as a camp counselor and I was able to see how youth would look up to me, it gave me a sense of importance. I was privileged to be able to make a difference in these childrens lives. They need to know that they are loved and important just as much as we do and I think this program will let me do this for many children in need of help. I want to be able to take away some of those daily stresses that they shouldn't have to be worrying about at such a young age and replace it with support, love and importance.

The program begins May 15th. We travel to South Africa, Mozambique, and Swaziland.
