Mulege BCS - Covid Relief Fundraiser

quick update...

This picture shows Dr. Orlando thanking all of the donors for the help.

The hospital needed masks badly so 600 went to them.

Mayor/delegado of Mulege who was happy and thankful to receive 300 masks.

And lastly we donated 300 masks to the Casa de Cultura that is run by Rafiti.

This week we just received another 10,000 pesos for each store, Poncho and Saul.  And thank you so much.  Both of these guys are well versed on the community and know who really needs this help and who does not.  Of course, families, many of which are multi generational need the help.  Poncho allows each family a 500 peso package.  To put this into perspective in todays exchange rate that equals $24.14. U.S.  A pathetic amount, really, to last a family for a week.  They are allowed no thrills.  No alcohol, cigarettes, candy and very little in the way of fresh items.  So you can see why we are so thankful for every penny you donate.

From this weeks donation to Poncho he says he will be ready to deliver the donations Sunday 21.  He prefers Sunday as it allows him to order what is needed and have it delivered Friday and Saturday and then he has a full range of needed items.  It's sad when a family with kids and grandparents walk several blocks or even miles to get food and not have any available.  Your help is so appreciated.  Thank you so much.

Hi everyone,

we had success at getting the money down to Saul and Frank's stores, logistically challenging but Juan was able to make it happen as he has accounts up here and down there that made it possible!

When there is more money raised we will do another round of transfers to Saul and Frank

I really appreciate everyone that has given to this worthy cause, makes me so happy to know that we have made some difference for the town folk there that really needed help.  They bought a lot of masks with the funds to help keep the community protected, that was very welcome as they are expensive down there.

The Go Fund ME Drive will run another month so please forward to anyone you know that has a special place in their heart for the struggling folks in Baha.  Keep in mind that any amount goes a very long ways!!

Thanks again from the bottom of my heart!!!

Pablo Francisco

Update from Patsi in Mulege...
We are doing great.  We go to town tomorrow when I will check in with Saul to make sure he knows the funds are there.  Also will help Poncho, Franks dad sort items Frank bought and sent via truck.  Things people are begging for such as masks, adult diapers, female products.    Frank sent Ponchos money to me and I will get it tomorrow and take it to him.  He is ordering 50 lb bags of beans and rice, sugar, flour.  We will repackage into smaller bags.  I will take pics for you.  We are also trying to figure out how we can reach some of the remote ranchos.  I have a list of 111 folks who have asked for help.  We should be busy.  I'll keep you posted.  Thank you for doing this.  Its gotta get better.  We gotta get that Juan hitched.

From Patsi...
The first picture is at Saul's Tienda and shows the weeks bagged up foods for people who come to pick it up.  He told me he gives them a bag of necessities and if they need a piece of chicken or something he adds that.

The next two pictures are of people lined up at Poncho's Tienda today.  We are working on getting bags up to the ranchos.

Quick update on Mulege Fundraiser -1-24-21...we need you help!

We have raised $3665 so far and we have transferred monies to Saul and Frank in Mulege for distribution of food and money to the folks that really need it down there.

Saul and his family all came down with the virus but have worked their way back to health and are all working back at their store. Frank and his family are still staying healthy.

This fundraiser has been really good as far as timing and how much our support goes to the people in need.

I WANT TO THANK ALL that have helped out and hope those that were too busy over the holidays would consider chipping in on this very powerful and extremely needy cause! Any amount helps, our ducats go a long ways down there and they all appreciate the support we’ve been able to give them. I know money is tight for a lot of people that have been affected by pandemic so I hope and pray that we all get through this absolutely crazy time period in our lives.

If I can ask you to post this on FB or sent to your friends that also love Mexico as there are so many of us out there that truly love the country and the warm and friendly people that live there.

I’ll send some more photos when I get them from the town folk.  I will also send a full accounting of where the monies went as well.  It’s nice to see this kind of thing go directly to the people in need!!

Take care all of you, let’s navigate the best we can through Zombie-Land and make this a much better year then 2020, stay SAFE and HEALTHY!!!

 Love you all,

Pablo Francisco Wilkinson

I want you to know what you have done for this town by making this GFM.  Today when I showed it to Saul he had to keep wiping the tears from his eyes he was so happy and thankful.  He says there are so many hungry people to help.

We need your help!

There are many places all over this wonderful planet that have been greatly affected this year and continue to struggle to get through these crazy times. I have choose to help out the people out in this very small town in Baha that has captured my heart by setting up a GoFundMe fundraiser to assist the folks that have been affected the most and have no other means of support.  This thriving community has always prided itself on being self-contained and their warm and very welcoming attitude towards travelers gives it the “very special place” award in my book.

We will be sending funds to Saul Davis and Frank Anaya who both own grocery stores in town.  Saul issues vouchers for 350 pesos to the Delegado who in turn gives them to those who need it.  Saul also has been  keeping very accurate records of money in and the food out for people that have donated to the community this year.  Frank ‘s  family can also help distribute food, supplies or money to the folks that need it the most.  I have personally known Frank for many years and he is very trustworthy and will do what he can to help support his community.  We strongly feel that ALL the money raised will go to the cause and help a lot of town folk that really need your support.

Thanks for considering this as part of your charitable contributions during this pandemic!!!

Happy Holidays,

Pablo Francisco Wilkinson
