Help a young mother battle brain CA

Donation protected
On June 26th of this year my 29-year-old daughter went to work as usual.  She is a PCT in a local hospital’s Operating Room.  While at work she suffered from a severe headache associated with pressure, nausea, and vomiting.  After a CT scan and a MRI, she was told she had a “mass” causing pressure in her brain.  Upon receiving results of those tests the ER doctor recommended that she be transferred to another hospital (Vidant Medical Center, Greenville, NC) for better treatment of this “mass”.

It was around midnight when she arrived in the Neuro-Surgery ICU.  The following day we meet with the neurosurgeon to discuss the results of scans and treatment for this tumor.  She was scheduled for brain surgery the next day (June 28th) to bypass the mass so fluid would drain normally (3rd Ventriculostomy) and to take biopsies of the mass.  Just two months prior, she had a lymph node biopsy done – she was diagnosed with sarcoidosis.  Although something not to be taken lightly, we hoped the brain mass was associated with the sarcoidosis.  At her follow up appointment with the neurosurgeon on July 6th, we were told that the tumor is cancerous.  The treatment of choice would normally be surgery but the location of this tumor in her brain makes that difficult to do so.  There is also the possibility that the tumor has “seeded” (spread) to other areas in her brain or spine.  We are still waiting for all the scans to be completed and will discuss treatment options on August 10th.  THE GOAL IS FOR HER TO BE CURED OF THIS DISEASE!!

She has been unable/not allowed to work due to this diagnosis and won’t return to work until late December, God willing.  As with everyone, she continues to have monthly expenses that need to be paid.  She received her bill from this surgery and that alone was $48,000.00!!  My daughter has been a CNA 2 for the past 12 years and has enjoyed every part of it.  She was planning to apply to a nursing program at a local community college this fall; she has completed the prerequisites needed.  She has a 9-year-old son who is growing fast and when the new school year starts, will bring more expenses.  Hearing that diagnosis – there are no words to describe.  Finances were the last thing I thought about but are a very big worry.  She is a fighter and I am right behind her.  Her son gives her even more reason to fight.  Your donations, no matter the size, would mean everything to me and my family.  Also, prayers are requested and appreciated.  Our emotions cannot be expressed on paper.  If we could worry a little less about finances, this would allow her to focus on the fight and this journey ahead.  Thank you and God bless!
