Hello,
I am launching this campaign on behalf of my sweet mother, Reba Sanders. She is a hardworking wife and mother of two. She has endured a lifetime of hardships and struggles - being hearing impaired, specifically, profoundly deaf has presented many challenges. Despite having faced these challenges, she and my father (who is also deaf) worked so hard to provide for their children and sacrificed so much for our happiness.
Mom has been faced with a new battle, as symptoms of her recent diagnosis began on Christmas day. On January 16, 2018, she was diagnosed with locally advanced stage 2B cervical cancer. Due to the nature of this cancer, the only viable treatment is five weeks of weekly chemotherapy and daily external beam radiation, followed by a MRI. She will then begin internal beam radiation therapy for several weeks.
This method of treatment is very expensive. After my father was involved in a major car accident in 2002, he was left permanently disabled and unable to work, thus my mother was left being the primary source of income. My mother has been unable to work since her symptoms worsened, and since her treatment began, she has not been able to get around the house very well and has been sleeping a great deal, a stark contrast to her very active lifestyle before this began. This has been one of the hardest things to witness.
Being able to do this for her means so much because she has sacrificed so much for us, when she had so little herself. My goal is to give her a little peace of mind, free from the worry of whether she'll be able to pay for her medical, personal, and travel expenses needed for continued treatments. She should be able to focus all of her energy on beating this cancer!
