Mt. Provo Road - Ponderosa Hills Fire Escape

Donation protected
Mt. Provo Rd is a primary fire-evacuation road for the community of Ponderosa Hills in Tuolumne County, and has been impassable for several years due to extremely deep ruts.

To date, over $150,000 in donations have been made to complete the first phase of the project, which includes major contributions from Frontier Communications and the USFS, who worked together to move communication lines at Frontier’s cost. CAL FIRE filled the deep ruts and graded the road, and SMCI volunteered a water tender with water access provided by Tuolumne Utilities District (TUD).

Tuolumne Safe is raising $13,000 in completion funding to pay the cost of trucking 27 loads of road base rock, which has been donated by Blue Mountain Minerals. CAL Fire will compact the rock once it has been transported to the site. There is an extreme sense of urgency as Tuolumne County is now in peak fire season.

Tuolumne Safe is asking the public for monetary donations to cover trucking costs. A small $5 donation fixes a foot of roadway, and a $500 donation provides over 120 linear feet of road. Additionally, trucking companies or solo operators can donate to the project by the truck load. All donations, whether financial, equipment, materials, etc. are tax deductible.

Thank you for supporting the Ponderosa Hills community with a donation to help fix the Mt. Provo Road. For more information, visit https://www.tuolumnesafe.org/.
