Benjamin Mutani, 15, is a fourth born in a family of six children. He is a native Kenyan. His mother is without a job, while his father is a casual laborer, earning less than $1 USD per day.
Benjamin came to Christ Academy for schooling as most other schools were too cost prohibitive for his family to pay for Benjamin to attend. Because Christ Academy is entirely funded by donors from the United States, they are able to enroll students unable to afford normal educational costs required to attend schooling.
After the test results, Benjamin personally came to the principal, Raphael Mutua, and asked if he could help him enroll in a high school. Most students like Benjamin do not have enough funds to pay for secondary education. Through our relationship with Raphael and Christ Academy, he has reached out to us requesting assistance in helping raise the funds so that Benjamin can attend high school.
The school that Benjamin would be attending is called Kathiani Boys High School. This secondary school is a boarding school and has an enrollment of just over 600 students. Annual tuition is costly, with an annual cost $975.00. This covers tuition, school supplies, uniform & shoes, food, toiletries, bedding, textbooks and other misc items.
We believe we have a unique opportunity to assist Benjamin in his desire to continue his education in high school. Our goal is to closely monitor his schooling, and if he continues to receive good grades through high school, we will continue to raise support for his education.
