As a special education teacher I have noticed a huge difference in student academic and behavior outcomes when technology is used. Being able to use laptop computers with a lesson helps students focus because they are excited to learn. More than ever, students are more tech savvy due to the constant exposure to computers, video games, cell phones and movies. Students have different learning styles and the laptops can meet the needs of the tactile, visual, and auditory learner. There are so many applications that are interactive which engage and motivate the students. Educational applications provide immediate feedback which is vital to maintaining a student's attention.

As a special education teacher, it is important for me to consistently collect data on students so that I can adjust my instruction to meet their needs. Several applications offer immediate data and scores which I can use for monitoring progress. The laptops also allow for easily differentiating instruction for students of varying academic levels.

I would like to get Chromebooks for my students. They are low cost, upgrade automatically, provide administrative access so I can control what websites my students visit, and they will motivate my students because they love using technology.
