OBITUARY / REQUEST FOR CONTRIBUTIONS
Dear Fellow Tanzanians,
It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of our fellow Tanzanian, Kenton Prosper Mushi, who tragically collapsed and died suddenly on the street in Memphis, Tennessee, on March 2nd, 2025.
The late Kenton was living alone at the time of his passing. So far, no close friends or family members have been located nearby.
His family back home in Tanzania has been notified of the sad news, and they are kindly asking for support from the Tanzanian community here in the United States to help transport Kenton’s body home for burial in Tanzania. Any amount you can contribute will be greatly appreciated.
Currently, the body is being held at the Forensic Center in Memphis, Tennessee, which has allowed only 40 days from April 14th, 2025 for arrangements to be made.
The estimated cost to transport his remains home to Kilimanjaro, Tanzania for burial is approximately $15,000. A funeral home has yet to be confirmed. We sincerely appeal to all Tanzanians to assist however they can—financially or otherwise. If funds are not raised before the 40-day deadline, the Memphis County Coroner’s Office will proceed with a local burial.
Dear brothers and sisters, wherever you are, let us come together to help send our fellow Tanzanian on his final journey with dignity. Should there be any remaining funds after the expenses are covered, they will be forwarded to Kenton’s family in Tanzania for final funeral rites.
