Cleo Smith Homegoing Fund

My mother, Cleo Smith was a loving, giving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She leaves behind a rich legacy of community involvement and dedication. She is already missed by many. Her 10-year struggle with Alzheimer’s disease ended on March 2nd at her home in Henrico, Virginia. I was by her side.

Although a memorial service will be held in Richmond, Virginia, it was Ms. Cleo’s wish that her final resting place be in New York, close to her original family, friends and the community she loved and voluntarily served for decades. Her funeral service will take place in her hometown of Jamaica, NY.

To respectfully honor her wishes, we are trying to raise $5,000 to help her family cover unexpected costs for burial arrangements between Virginia and New York. Any amount is greatly appreciated. All funds go directly to her daughter, Aqiylah Collins, who is in charge of her mother’s arrangements. Any amounts exceeding the costs of burial will be donated to charities Ms. Cleo supported.
