Midwifery in Tanzania

Donation protected
In January and February 2018, we (four midwifery students in their final year and a registered midwife) will be travelling to Dar el Salam in Tanzania, Africa to work with vulnerable, impoverished women. We will be assisting with pregnancy, labour and birth care for these women and their babies.

Every day over 800 women die from causes related to pregnancy and childbirth. 99% of these death occur in developing countries. In most cases, these deaths are preventable with adequate resources.

Whilst there we will have the opportunity to visit a medical supplies wholesaler to purchase much needed supplies that we can donate to the maternity unit of the hospital.

Your donation will allow us to buy sterile gloves and other items to prevent the spread of infection, as well as drugs to prevent post-partum haemorrhages and eclampsia. With enough money raised we will also be able to provide essential equipment. All funds raised will go directly to supporting these women and their newborn babies.

This trip will allow us to gain invaluable experience and enhance our own learning  as well as giving hope and support to these disadvantaged and vulnerable women. Thank you for supporting us as we support them.
