Hello, my name is Lewis, I run a lawn care business in the Ashevillle area during the summers. I have a few clients who are on fixed incomes. Regular expenses (like me) are budgeted for, but there’s no room for much of anything beyond that.
One of these people—We will call her Ms. B, because it took about a month of convincing for her to let me do this, and broadcasting her full name felt like it might be a step too far—is about to enter a nursing program with AB Tech.
She’s figured out tuition, but there are a few books and tools (stethoscope, blood pressure cuff, etc) that are beyond her budget.
From what I know, this seems like a big life step for Ms. B. She is a pretty remarkable woman. Intelligent, hilarious, determined, kind. She went through the storm in Swannanoa, where she still lives, and knows what it meant. I think anyone here would feel lucky to have Ms. B with them in a healthcare capacity.
In previous seasons, she’s passed on tools and gas to me when she’s had them. Frankly, she has helped me immensely with my own work. I’d like to return the favor now that there’s an opportunity. But I am not rich, so here we are.
So! If you have like $5-10 to throw in a pot for her, we can get her the tools she needs to start this new journey on the best foot. Mowing someone’s lawn is a great way to learn about who they are and how they treat others. I’d like to do my part here to support a good one!
