Ms. Applewhite's House Burned Down

Donation protected
Last night we all lost a great thing. 1201 Bibb Street Tuskegee, Alabama burned to the ground.

This GoFundMe campaign has been created to help Ms. Applewhite replace her belongings and secure a new shelter.

The home of our beloved mentor and friend, "Queen Mother" 73 -year-old Ms. Estelle Apperwhite still smolders. Ms. Applewhite’ s life was spared and she sustained only minor burns to her hands while escaping the fire; for this we praise the highest. However, she’s lost everything she owns in the blaze. The only thing that still stands is the community garden plot's crop of collard greens she raised to feed herself and her neighbors throughout the winter.

For those of you who’ve never had the chance to come to these hallowed grounds, I will tell you. This was a place made beautiful by hands that lovingly tilled the earth. Ms. Applewhite hosted many classes directly in her yard teaching community members and Tuskegee University students how to grow and plant crops to sustain themselves. Her notoriety as a garden warrior reaches long beyond the length of Bibb Street, into the Tuskegee community, and world at large.

All donations will go directly to helping her secure new lodging, personal effects, and her perscription medications. Any clothing, food, or furniture donations can be given by contacting [phone redacted].

We thank you for you assitance is helping us keep our beloved Ms. Applewhite living comfortably and independently in our community.
