Most Roads Lead To Rome

Cycling to Rome for Mental Health.

We are hoping to raise some money that we will share between Clarity in Barnstaple and The Lions Barber Collective as well as Mind. Please take a moment to read our story.

With suicide on the rise and very apparent in our community, Tobias wanted to do something not only to raise money but to start a conversation about mental health. Having suffered himself for years without feeling able to talk about it, Tobias wanted to publicly say to everyone suffering that you are definitely not alone. In order to raise money for two local mental health charities, as well as Mind, he decided to set himself a mental and physical challenge like nothing else he’d done before.

Tobias: I got on a bike for the first time in a decade, fell off a few times, and then decided it was a good idea to cycle from Canterbury to Rome along the pilgrimage route, the Via Francigena. Though it was a challenge I was keen to undertake, I couldn’t do it alone, so after a year of training and searching, I floated the idea out there and my friend Andy Baker got in touch and explained that he was going through something similar, and he also wanted to do a grand challenge or gesture, raise awareness and also raise money for a local charity working towards suicide prevention, and we agreed to raise for the charity Mind together too.

So here we are. Ready to talk about our own stories, raise money for a good cause and hopefully help you talk about yours.

We set off in the middle of April 2019 and are set to return in mid May, we’ll run the campaign throughout. 100% of the money raised will go to the charities we have chosen, the trip will be funded by ourselves or through sponsorship.
