MRKH Nonprofit Short Documentary Production Goal
My name is Frost, and I was diagnosed with MRKH at 17. Other common terms for MRKH include Mullerian Agenesis and Vaginal Agenesis/Atresia. MRKH is a congenital condition in which women are born without reproductive parts.
1 in every 5,000 women is born with MRKH. This means that the condition is rare, but there are many women who have it, roughly 1 million worldwide. There are likely women you know, family members or friends, who have the condition. It can affect other parts of our bodies, including chemical imbalances, liver and kidney issues, skeletal abnormalities, heart defects, hearing loss, and difficulties in engaging in intimacy. Although women with MRKH are incapable of carrying children, it is possible for most to have biological children through the use of assisted reproductive therapies and gestational surrogacy.
I am a student at Pratt Institute, obtaining my film BFA and business minor. I am a documentary filmmaker, but I engage in other passions, including photography, production, screenwriting, and P.A work. In addition, I run a freelance media company, Frost Martin Media, LLC. Please visit frostmartinmedia.com for more information about my work.
Over the next few months, I aim to produce a short documentary about MRKH to spread awareness of the condition, educate others, empower women with MRKH and share their stories. To do this successfully, I need to raise funds!
My current goal is to raise $5000 in donations, of which every penny will go toward producing this short film. Every donation is a step closer to making it a reality and will go towards financing several moving parts, including:
- Transportation for women with MRKH across the U.S
- Transportation for crew and equipment
- 1-day rental for a conversational space
- 1-day rental for lavaliers for 20 participants
- Food for 40 people (participants, support partners, and film crew)
- Hair and Makeup for 20 Women
- Licensing of stock footage for a recreational ultrasound scene
- Sound crew and mixer
- Gaffer/grip
- BTS photographer
Once the film is completed, any remaining donations will be donated to MRKH charities, including Beautiful You MRKH Foundation and MRKH Connect.
Any and all donations made, small or large, are greatly appreciated! If you can't donate but would be willing to share my initiative and spread the word, that is equally appreciated! Everything counts. Thank you for your time and consideration of my story and the story of thousands of women like me. We are strong, we are valuable, and we deserve to be heard. #MRKHStrong
