First and foremost, I want to truly thank you Jennie for helping us through this difficult time.

Because this affected our family on such a personal level, we wanted to make sure we can do 100% of our utmost ability to provide for our father before we reach out to others. We wanted to make sure it was the right time to speak out on everything that has happened before the situation further deteriorates. But I feel the time is now. Time that we reach out for help.

It has definitely been a difficult and arduous journey for those affected by this tragedy. From the day my father survived his extensive stroke attack that has left him paralyzed to currently residing in a nursing home, my sister and my grandmother has never given up on him. They have been by his side around the clock from day one, caring for him.

My father had two strokes at the same time; a major stroke on the left side leading to his brain and a minor one on his right. He has a heart condition called atrial fibrillation, which caused clotting to the brain. The stroke left his right body paralyzed, his speech impaired, and unable to speak or communicate. After a few weeks in the ICU, he was transferred to a nearby nursing home where he currently resides. Presently, he has on a feeding tube that provides for his basic necessities for survival.

My father was a simple man. He loved making others smile more anything else, always cracking jokes at the right time, or maybe even at the worst inappropriate times. But that was okay because we knew, above all else, that he truly loved his family more than anything else in the world. His perseverance has influenced those around him more than he would ever know.

Your contributions will help towards providing a hospital bed, a wheelchair, diapers, bathing supplies, medical gowns, bed sheets and covers, cleaning supplies, IVs, any medicine not covered by insurance and other expenses to help for a smooth transition back to our home. His insurance will not cover his nursing home past a month while we are currently looking into possible alternatives for his long-term care.

For those that do not know me, my name is Wilson. I am currently serving on active duty in the United States Navy. I have not been able to return home since the week of my father’s attack. While on student status, I am not allowed to take leave to see my father in even situations such as this. Therefore I would like to extend my sincerest gratitude to everyone that has contributed to this fund.
