Mr. Bontu's Ice Cream Truck

If you've ever come into contact with Mr. Bontu, our local ice cream man, you won't forget him. He has a way of brightening your day. He is more than just a man who drives around selling you ice cream. He remembers you, asks about your children or work, will stop and pray with you, and make you laugh. My family loves him and we wait for him every Thursday just to see him. He is such a hard worker, a loving father, and great friend! He has been in business for over a decade in our community.
After seeing posts on social media about how bad the state of his van was and how it deterred them from buying from him, it upset us! He works so hard and would give you the shirt off his back! We were angered....until we read the stories. The stories of how much he has impacted so many lives in our area. The love seemed to just pour out for Bontu! That's when my husband and I knew we could help him.
If this many people loved him as much as we do and they were willing to donate, maybe we could raise enough money to help him . We are hoping to collect money to fix up his van. We have a local auto painting business to get his ice cream truck looking great. We also plan to get the proper equipment to set up an app for tracking and notifying when he is in your area. His van also needs new tires, a window replaced, and a few other maintenance issues.
As hard as Mr. Bontu has worked for our community to bring smiles to our children's faces (and lets be honest, adults love the ice cream truck just as much) and delicious ice cream treats to our homes without having to leave and go out during a pandemic, we can show him a little love. Even donating just $10 or $20 can make a huge difference for this awesome man . If you can't donate now, thats okay. But would you mind sharing a story in the comments about how Mr. Bontu has brought happiness to your life. Whether it's a frozen treat when you are having a bad day, or the opportunity to buy your neighbors you don't know well a nice dessert, Bontu is a blessing to this community. ****We understand you don't want to donate to just anyone. I'm Alicia Chunn. My husband and I have known Bontu for about 7 years now. We previously tried to add some simple vinyl stickers that we cut on a machine but they started to fade from how much he is driving around in the sun. We've become great friends over the years. He has sat and prayed with us countless times over our children and foster child. We consider him our family!****
