Mr Bill Spatholt

I truly don't know where to start....this is one of the most devastating stories I have ever been a part of...Bill Spatholt (father of Ryan and Dylan Spatholt) was having some minor pains in his neck, so he was told to get a myelogram done at the Curo Clinic in Youngstown Ohio. A myelogram is similar to a cat scan. It uses a real time form of x-ray called fluorscopy. There is a contrast dye inserted into the body to help  look for problems in the spinal cord, nerve roots, and other tissues. It is an Outpatient procedure that occurs thousands of times a day. Here is where the sad, most devastating part comes in. This procedure is meant to be monitored by a nurse/doctor during the entire procedure, every second of the procedure. The dye they insert makes your body feel warm, and Bill, knowing that, said something other than that did not feel right when they injected the dye, but they continued with the procedure anyways. Twenty minutes into the procedure, Bill was found with out a heart beat, the so called "physicians" come to tell us that  his heart had STOPPED beating for 15+ MINUTES and that there was no oxygen going to his brain during that entire time span. When we asked the doctors and nurses what had happened their responses were "we don't know". Sitting there with a lifeless body and all they have to say is they don't know...At this moment, Bill is in a chemically induced comma (the deepest comma possible) on full life support with breathing tubes down his throat fighting for his life, over what is meant to be a simple outpatient procedure, nothing more than a routine check up for the most part. This story truly sounds like something you would see out of a horror movie, it doesn't feel real. Bill walked into this procedure 100% healthy, with little typical pains that everyone deals with, just wanting to get them checked out, and now he lays in an ICU unit lifeless with his two sons Ryan and Dylan by his side. I think that is what is hitting me the most, and what I cannot even fathom is that he was 100% healthy, and now he lays there lifeless. I cannot even begin to imagine what Ryan and Dylan are feeling. This is not only inhumane, but it is  one of the most careless acts I have ever seen. Whats amazing is no one is even trying to figure out how or why this happened to a completely healthy man!!?? I can go on and on and on but where we stand as of right now is Dylan, and his brother Ryan are in complete shock and disbelief, and truly don't know what to do. Bill recently retired from the MRDD four months ago and his insurance was dropped. As Bill is laying there lifeless, a nurse has the ignorance to come in and ask us "how would we like to pay thus far" Truly mind blowing and so sad what this world is coming to. All I ask for the family is that you donate anything you can to help with these medical bills, and even if you cannot donate money, please share this post so that others could donate, or even so that other lives can be saved knowing not to EVER go to this place or this doctor ever again. At the very least, besides the money, besides the shares, what I really ask is that if you can just say one quick prayer for Bill to receive a miracle, that's truly what we need, because at the end of the day, Ryan and Dylan just want their Dad back. Bill is the most wonderful, nicest, sweetest guy you will ever meet, he is an amazing father to these two, and such an amazing friend to many. It is truly so so unfair that this tragedy somehow struck him, but with the help of all of you, I know we can help Ryan and Dylan get through this.
