Help me, help my mom

Thank you for clicking on my link and taking the time to read this. Although this is so much outside my comfort zone, I am asking for help.

My mother has PKD (Polysistic Kidney Disease) and needs a kidney and liver transplant. This is something she inherited and lived with her entire life. Although this didn't present itself until she was in her late 30's, she is now 59 and needs a new kidney! Polycystic kidney disease (PKD or PCKD, also known as polycystic kidney syndrome) is a genetic disorder in which the renal tubules become structurally abnormal, resulting in the development and growth of multiple cysts within the kidney. These cysts may begin to develop before birth or in infancy, in childhood, or in adulthood. Cysts are non-functioning tubules filled with fluid pumped into them, which range in size from microscopic to enormous, crushing adjacent normal tubules and eventually rendering them non-functional also. My mom has no quality of life for the past five years, as her day to day life has changed drastically. Most days she can't get out of bed because of pain, she never has two good days in a row, and spends more than half her waking hours, napping and staying in bed.

We moved to Bradford from Halifax, NS in June of last year, and have made this our forever home. My moms entire family is on the East Coast, and I know they would all be here to help if they could.

The reason I am asking for help is because I am donating my kidney to my mom next month; October 2017, and a year from now a part of my liver will also be donated to her to save her life. We will spend 5-7 days in the hospital, and for my mom that's no problem as her kids are grown. But for me, I have two small children to take care of at home! I also have two teenagers that will step up and help after school when they can, but school needs to be their main focus. So why donate? My husband owns his own tiling company and for him to take ANY time off, he doesn't get paid. We simply can not afford for him to not go to work right now. We have been preparing for this scenario financially as best we can, but will still fall short financially if he stays home to help, or I will be left to tend to my children not allowing myself to heal properly if he returns to work right away. We also have been making several trips a week downtown in preparation of these surgeries, and that has unexpectedley been a huge cost between parking and gas. The money donated would allow my husband to stay home for two weeks until I am cleared to get out of bed and can parent from my sofa (lol) for the remainder of my post op.

My family and I would greatly appreciate your support. I am beyond blessed to be a match for my mom, so that she can continue to live her life, and watch her children and grandchildren grow.

Thank you to all who have read our story, and a million times thank you so much for your support! I am blessed and forever grateful to have such amazing family and friends.

If you have ANY questions please do not hesitate to ask me and I will answer to the best of my ability.

Thank you in advance xoxo
