Reunite Felix Gabriel, Jr with his family

Donation protected
Dear All,

A few years ago, I made the decision to return to the U.S. in part since I knew my dad was aging. My dad is 83 years old. His mental health has declined, and I have watched him struggle with memory loss. This necessitated me to be more involved in his long-term planning. Unfortunately, though I tried to get involved with his medical care and long-term planning, I have been blocked access to this.
I used to travel back and forth to Florida monthly to keep track of his medical prognosis and progress, however, this was met with resistance and push back. A few months ago, my dad suffered a stroke, fell, and had emergency surgery due to internal injuries. I learned through a third party that my father was hospitalized and was not able to get the full scope of his medical prognosis and was on the outside looking in. He has recently been hospitalized again and I was not provided information about his diagnosis or prognosis.
During my few trips back and forth, I noticed that the basic needs of my dad have not been addressed. Efforts by my family and I to keep in touch with my dad on a regular basis had also been hampered with. I found out recently that my dad was permanently placed in a residential home. This decision was neither discussed with me nor his other family members on the Gabriel side. This was very heartbreaking for me to hear as I knew this would further isolate him from his family and friends as my dad has ALWAYS been a very sociable person.
I decided to explore what my options were and consulted with an attorney to understand my rights as his daughter. Though my rights are limited, the attorney stated that I could file for custody of my dad if a case of abuse and neglect could be proven. After hearing my story, the attorney has decided to take this case.
Pursuing this case would be costly (at least $10,000) and I’m asking for help from family and friends to help defray the legal costs of getting custody of my dad. My goal is to have him move closer to me so that I can be involved in the day-to-day care of my dad and to de-isolate him from the Gabriel family. Please prayerfully consider donating. No amount is too small. I’m praying for an open and shut case. Please join me in pursuing justice for my dad and share whatever you can. All proceeds will go directly towards all legal expenses related to getting my dad back and hopefully relocating him to Maryland. I would appreciate it tremendously and thank you in advance.
