CONSTRUYENDO EDUCACIÓN- LEYRE Y PAULA

Hace dos meses llegamos a Malawi, dos chicas españolas con ganas de conocer otras realidades y poder aportar energía a nuestro alrededor. Empezamos a entender el funcionamiento del país observando y con mucha paciencia. Actualmente y desde que llegamos estamos llevando a cabo un proyecto, dentro de la organización HPP en DAPP Dowa, como voluntarias, trabajando para mejorar la estructura de la educación en las escuelas para niños de 2 a 5 años de las comunidades cercanas.

Estamos trabajando en 14 y no todas están activas. De éstas, hay 2 que ni si quiera tienen un aula donde realizar las clases diarias, teniendo que utilizar la iglesia de la comunidad. El resto se encuentran en situaciones muy precarias, algunas sin baños, otras sin ventanas y ninguna de ellas con materiales apropiados para el desarrollo de las clases.

Cada una atiende una media de 100 niños, aunque la realidad es que por diferentes motivos, solo un 20% acuden a diario. Algunos de los motivos es que están lejos del hogar, otras veces es porque los padres desconocen la importancia de la educación temprana y no llevan a los niños al cole, otras simplemente porque las clases no tienen materiales ni buenos recursos por lo que a los niños les cuesta mantener la atención y pierden la motivación de acudir a las clases.

Los profesores que las imparten son voluntarios de la propia comunidad, preocupados por las mismas y que conocen la importancia de la educación en los primeros años de vida.

La educación temprana supone una herramienta importantísima en el desarrollo de la vida de los niños. En las escuelas se encuentran en un espacio seguro, donde aprenden, juegan y comienzan a entender las nociones básicas. Normas de comportamiento, de higiene, de educación y respeto. También el inglés, una herramienta fundamental ya que en el país es una lengua oficial, pero en la mayoría de las comunidades solo hablan la lengua materna, chichewa.

Todas estas escuelas tienen algo en común, trabajan duro a diario y no pierden la esperanza de tener una educación digna. En cada visita que hacemos vivimos la motivación de los profes, la alegría de los niños y el entusiasmo de la gente de la comunidad por mejorar esta situación.

Y este es nuestro objetivo, apoyarles y darles soporte para que juntos podamos CONSTRUIR LA EDUCACIÓN que estos niños se merecen.

Necesitamos apoyo para poder construir y mejorar estas escuelas. Construir dos desde 0 supondrá un coste de 500 Euros por escuela. Implementar en todas ellas la estructura del aula, con sillas, pizarra, y materiales de aprendizaje, baños, una pequeña sala donde cocinar y un parque de juegos supondrá un coste de 200 por cada una. El total alcanza a 3400 Euros.

BUILDING EDUCATION- LEYRE AND PAULA

We arrived in Malawi two months ago; two Spanish girls who wanted to discover other realities and try to bring energy around us. We started to understand how the country worked, through observation and with much patience. At this moment, and since we arrived, we are running a project in the organization HPP in DAPP Dowa, as volunteers, working to improve the structure of the education in the preschool for children between 2 and 5 years in the communities around.

We are working in 14 preschool and not all of them are active. Two of them don ́t even have a class room where to work daily, so they have to use the church of the community. The other preschools are in a really precarious situation, some of them without toilets, others without windows and none of them with proper materials for the development of the courses.

Each one takes care of around 100 children, but the reality is that because of different reasons. Only 20% attend the school daily. Some of these reasons are because the preschools are far from their homes; other times because the parents don ́ t know the importance of early education and don ́t bring the children to the school; others are only because the classes don ́t have materials nor good resources, making it difficult for the children to pay attention, having them lose motivation to go to the lessons.

The teachers who direct the lessons are volunteers from their own communities, worried about their communities and who understand the importance of education in the first years of early development.

Early education is a really important tool in the development of the lives of the children. In the preschools the children are in a secure space, where they learn, play and start to understand basic notions: Rules of behavior, hygiene, education and respect. Also English, a fundamental tool as it ́s an official language of the country, yet, in most communities they speak only the mother tongue, Chichewa.

All of these preschools have something in common, they work hard every day and don ́t lose the hope of having a proper education. In all the visits that we do, we live the motivation of the teachers, the happiness of the children and the enthusiasm of the people of the community to improve this situation.

And this is our goal, support them and together try to BUILT THE EDUCATION that these children deserve.

We need support to be able to build and improve these school. <we must now build two new schools from zero, which will cost 500 Euros per school. We must implement in all of them the following structure: class room, chairs, blackboard and materials to learn, toilets, small room where to cook and a playground. This will amount to: 200 per each. In total it should be: 3400E.
