Bella's Surgery Fund

On Saturday night Bella was attacked by most likely a bobcat in her own backyard. She suffered some severe injuries, the worst of them being on her right back leg. She is currently in surgery. Michael and Justin as well as the entire family are on pins and needles as we wait to hear. There is a small chance that she could lose her leg or require additional surgeries. Without the amputation and additional surgeries the boys are already paying quite a bit out of pocket. Any little bit helps. Please keep Bella in your thoughts and prayers!

**UPDATE**
Bad news. They were able to fix her leg, however her hip is damaged beyond repair. To be able to walk again Bella will need another surgery costing an additional 4k from an orthopedic surgeon. This will hopefully able her to walk again and regain some flexibility, but she will most likely never be able to run. Please any little bit helps. Also help share and spread the word. Thank you!

**UPDATE** 6/20/17
Bella is currently home recovering from her first surgery. She is in quite a bit of pain so the boys slept with her on the floor last night. She will need her second surgery this week and as soon as possible to avoid having to amputate her leg. The second surgery is going to be vital in getting her to walk again. She also has to go in every other day to have her feet and toes resplinted as most of them are broken. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

**UPDATE** 6/21/17
Hello! We just wanted to say thank you for all the shares and thoughtful donations. Bella's second surgery, the surgery on her hip is taking place tomorrow morning. This surgery is vital in enabling her to walk again, and will also help alleviate a lot of her pain she is currently in. She has a long road ahead - she still has many wounds that need to heal, broken toes, will need to learn how to walk again, and will probable be on pain medication for a couple months. Keep her in your thoughts tomorrow and we will update you on the progress.

**UPDATE** 6/22/17
Bella had her hip surgery today - however that led to more bad news. They found that her ACL is torn. The vets recommendation was to amputate her leg, however Michael and Justin are not ready for that. Bella has a long road ahead of her. Amputation could still be a possibility, so is another expensive surgery as well as physical therapy. Below is a note from Michael, please help them if you can:

The last few days have been very rough on Justin and I. I wouldn't wish what we've been through lately on my worst enemy. For those who don't know, our dog Bella was attacked in our own (fenced) backyard, most likely by a bobcat. The wounds she suffered were immense. She is currently undergoing her third surgery. Her left back leg suffered the most damage, with a displaced hip, broken toes and torn ACL. Right before her surgery today the surgeon called me and suggested we amputate her leg. I wasn't ready to make that decision so I okayed the surgery to fix her hip, but with today's discovery of a torn ACL, her recovery is going to be a very long process.

Those with pets know that they are indeed members of our family, so I wanted to send a very heartfelt thank you to those who have kept Bella in their prayers and those who have donated to her gofundme. With buying a new house and legal fees associated with adoption, the donations have really helped us out with this unforeseen expense. Please continue to keep Bella in your prayers in that her pain soon goes away.

**UPDATE** 6/24/2017
From Justin:
Thank you for your thoughts prayers and support. Our baby girl has had a restful day today after her second surgery. It went well and hopefully our post op appointment on Sunday goes well so Bella can start physical therapy.

**UPDATE** 6/25/2017
Bella had her post op today. Here is what we found out:
1. Her ACL tear is complete. There is little to no chance of her bearing weight on that leg without surgery or possibly a brace. We will not know much more until week 6 on this front. Chance of needing ACL surgery is very high.
2. Her toes are broken to the point where the bones will not fuse together again. Our hope is that scar tissue will create a false joint in that leg. This will allow her to use them without much discomfort.
3. We will be starting physical therapy from here on out. It will only be about 25 minutes per day to start, moving to a little over an hour in a few weeks.
4. Her hip itself and her other wounds are doing well.

Overall the vet was very happy with her progress and is impressed with Bella's spirit. She has a long road of recovery ahead of her.

We appreciate everyone's thoughts, prayers, and donations. We ask that you keep sending positive thoughts our way and share her story.
