My name is Tywill D. Boyd. I am a Sophomore, Sociology and Religion (Double Major) from New York and I attend Morehouse College. I was presented with an opportunity to attend one of Morehouse’s study abroad offers entitled “Morehouse Pan-African Global Experience” in short, MPAGE Brazil 2018. By God’s grace after applying, I was notified of my acceptance as well as its expenses. I am extremely humbled, grateful and honored not only to take on this experience but also to be amongst intelligent individuals and travel abroad for the first time. The initial cost of this trip is $3200, which includes round trip transportation from Atlanta to Brazil; Brazilian visa, health insurance and departure tax; housing in Brazil; two meals a day; and ground transportation in the country. I believe this trip provides students like myself with the opportunity to travel abroad, dwell and engage with a portuguese speaking family, practice intensive Portuguese learning, a chance to explore various parts of Brazil alongside a few excursions. With this opportunity I believe it would allow me to gain knowledge as to Brazil and it's education, exposure towards their style of living, comprehension of Portuguese as another language, insight to some of the history as well as experience in traveling and studying abroad. Growing up, I’ve always thought it to be, that there was more to life than the streets in which I lived on or other states I’ve traveled to. In attending this study abroad trip, I believe it would start, meet and exceed my expectations. With your help, in regards to a share or simple contribution, it would allow me to be able to make another dream become a reality.
