Mike Holcomb Heart Surgery

Donation protected

If you have ever met Mike Holcomb, you know he is a giver and is always doing for other people. If you are familiar with Boy scouts in Pulaski County, then chances are you know him in that capacity as Mike works as an Assistant Troop leader and with the Order of the Arrow. Mike has been dedicated to the scouting program for most of his life spending many hours at camp and recently assisting with the building of a new and very beautiful chapel at Camp Ottari. He is also a dedicated member of Jordan's Chapel UMC and spent the last 6 years along with others, helping to build the new church building that we moved into last year. Mike has influenced the lives of many, many, young people through his dedication to Scouting, Church, and youth recreation programs. Mike’s aim has always been to build the confidence of youngsters to better enable them to succeed in all phases of life. His rate of success has been tremendous seeing so many of “his” young people go to college and enter the work force with set goals for life.
A few weeks ago he got sick. At first he thought he had the flu, but after 2 trips to the ER over only a few days, they discovered that he has blockages in his heart. His heart is enlarged and only functioning at 20% .
The catch is, Mike had no health insurance during his week-long (2 different) hospital stays.
I'm sure you are wondering why he didn't have health insurance? Mike is self-employed. He had signed up for a policy through the Affordable Care Act but it doesn't go into effect until March 1st. He was sent home on February 12th with medication to wait until he can have Heart bypass surgery on March 2nd.
The hospital bills for someone without insurance are astronomical, and with deductibles and co-pays for by-pass surgery, the totals will continue to rise, but we can help! Mike has given so much of his time, talent, and resources for so many others, it's time for us to help him!  Would you consider helping to ease this family’s financial burden?
