Moving the Duartes!

This is a campaign to raise money for the Duarte family to move back to the Towson High school district.  The Duartes are Jose and Mirna and their 3 children; they have lived in Towson for many years.  Jose & Mirna recently moved to a new apartment.  It is very close to where their son, Christian, attended Dumbarton Middle School.  They did not anticipate any problems.  Through conversations with some of us however, the family discovered that this apartment is located just over the city-county line.  Without realizing it, they had moved their family to Baltimore City, which completely changes not only their school district, but also their school system.  

Christian has attended Towson schools since elementary school.  He just finished 8th grade and was very happy to be moving on to Towson High school with his friends.  As it is to all of us, education is very important to the Duarte family.  The Towson area schools Christian has attended are first-rate and have provided him a quality education.  His situation will be very different and he will be with none of his friends if he must attend the Baltimore City high school for which he is zoned.  

There is a "Woodbine" team of us who have come together to help Jose & Mirna move back to the Towson High school district.  We really want Christian to be able to continue his education at Towson High.  This help is two-fold:  locating a new rental apartment or house and terminating the lease for their current apartment.  In examining their lease and contacting their current apartment complex/management company, we have learned that Jose & Mirna will have to pay 2 months' rent as a penalty to break the lease.  They will also have to pay a deposit for their new apartment.  Jose & Mirna both work very hard; but, coming up with this amount of cash on their own to pay this penalty would be impossible.

The money raised here is for that penalty.  Each of us has contributed money to this cause; together we have collected $1,800.  But we are still short of the total amount needed. We need to raise funds quickly because they must provide 30-days' notice for early termination and they need documentation of their new county address to complete Christian's registration at Towson High.

The "Woodbine" team would be so very grateful for any support you might be able to offer.  It will mean the world to Jose & Mirna, and especially to Christian.
