Moving Laikyn to Colorado

Donation protected

Hi all. I know it's been a hard year, but if you have something extra to give to an angel in need, I hope you'll read her story.

I met Laikyn when I was 5 or 6 years old, in Ms. Neomanitas' first-grade class. We became instant best friends, both two kids struggling with difficult home lives who got lost in adventuring and pretending with one another. She lived in my neighborhood and we had sleepovers almost every weekend, tape recording our thoughts and dreams and eventually moving on to creating fun videos with her camcorder. When I moved away from the neighborhood in 4th grade, we still stayed as close as we could, and even despite being many, many miles from one another, we always stayed best friends, doing everything we could and begging our parents for rides to and fro around South Florida to see one another.

Countless times during my young life, I wanted to die, and I turned to Laikyn. She was an angel, a bright speck in a very unruly and tough childhood, and she saved me over and over and over again.

Laikyn had Callie when she was 17 years old. Callie is my goddaughter--she is everything to me, all of my hope for children. I don't want any of my own, and Callie means more me than any other kid I know. I just want her to have a stable and comfortable home life and I hope that with your help we can achieve that.

Laikyn moved out to Colorado a few years back, but unfortunately financial issues sent her back to Florida. About two months ago, Laikyn suffered heart failure and had to undergo coronary bypass surgery at 27 years old. Since then, her health struggles have only increased, including endless fluid filling her lungs.

Worst of all, Laikyn was left in an awful living situation and when her roommate abandoned her, she was left on the verge of homelessness. Thanks to her family and my own, we will be helping her in this fight, and hopefully we will be able to move her out to CO with your help, so I can take her to her doctor's visits and help care for Callie while she recovers.

I would never ask for anything for myself, but for my best friend, I would give the world. Please consider donating, even just a small amount, to help get Laikyn out of FL and back in CO, where I can help her out on the daily.
