Moving expenses for my mom

Donation protected
Hey guys,

My name is Alysia Victoria Parker or AVP, for many years I have lived in Maryland with my parents and they were responsible for caring for me but after my late father's cancer diagnosis of bone cancer, I became a caregiver for him while my mom continued to work until his death in 2009. Sadly because he didn't have a legal will we were forced to move out of my childhood home to a one-bedroom apartment with a lot of stairs in November 2012 which is difficult on me but especially my mom because of her asthma.

My mom continued to work until her retirement in 2016 and her health seemed to be good but in recent years her health has had its ups and a lot of downs. She's had some very scary health scares and because I am her caregiver it puts a lot more stress and strain on me. Her recent health scares have been very bit everything including having trouble walking up and down the stairs which has put a lot of pain in her legs and hips lately where she has started using a cane a bit more. Plus her asthma is much more severe up here in the DMV area where she has to use her inhaler/nebulizer at least 4 times a day and in Tennessee, she may have to use it a max of two times.

After my mom's sister's unexpected death in 2020 and having to travel over 800 miles via bus to be with family we realized that my mom and I both need to be living closer to her family. You see, when my dad died in 2009 we had very little support from his family over the years and we get very limited contact from them. And I certainly do not want to go through the crisis of losing a parent on my own without family support, it is needed more than ever now as my mom is getting up in age.

Also, transportation in the Washington DC area during this recent crisis has made more things stressful. Not only that it would give us the chance to get to know family members that we get very limited access to regularly and by moving much closer to where they are we can visit and be with them more often.

If we move closer to her family it would ease a lot of the burdens on my back and we could have a bit more freedom to have less stress of stairs and have more financial freedom because living in the DMV area is incredibly expensive since the rent around here goes up every year and it makes a hardship on finances for us and we have to budget every cent that comes in here.

We don't have many belongings to take with us, it's what we managed to salvage from the unexpected move in 2012 as you can see listed below:

one recliner, one sofa, one love seat, 4-night stands, one two-piece China cabinet, one flat-screen T.V. set, one computer chair, a queen-sized mattress, one chest freezer and about 45 Rubbermaid 18-gallon bin, 4 table lamps, one-floor lamp, about 8 bookcases and one T.V. stand.

So please can you help ease this burden from me so my mom can be closer and nearer to her family? It would mean so much to me!

As I am getting ready to get married and start a new life in San Diego, it is not fair to expect me to put my life on hold either, I am currently working remotely but I need to be able to live my life without worrying about her and not knowing if she is okay.

Plus it is not fair to expect me to pack all of her belongings on my own without any additional help as I am working most days from 10 to 6 PM and am incredibly busy most weekends.

So this GoFundme is to help her get moved and settled into a new location whether it be in Tennessee or a smaller more affordable housing in Maryland somewhere.
