What would you say if someone told you that with just $10,000 you could make a significant impact in one of America's most progressive, historic, and beautiful cities? Additionally, that in this city, you could be a home and business owner, working for yourself and creating jobs for others? Surely, most people would be interested. After all, that is the American dream.

We are humbly seeking your support to achieve our American dream of relocating to the greater Detroit area to participate in its revitalization, becoming homeowners, and expanding our small business.
Change is Brewing in Motor City
Who Are We?
We are Taryn and Trevor Will, and we're from Phoenix, AZ. Last year, we took a tremendous leap of faith to start a business, the first step down the path toward our long-term goals. A little more than a year later, we are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our baby boy in just a couple of weeks, and we are excited to embark on the next leg of our journey.
Why Detroit?
Trevor and his brother recently took a trip to Detroit, where they met with realtors, property managers, and housing inspectors, and looked at many, many properties. Somewhat to their surprise, they both fell in love with the city and its uniqueness. It's a place of great opportunity, where what can be achieved is limited only by one's own imagination. They came across a couple of people who had taken it upon themselves to start a community garden in a vacant lot in the middle of the city. This is just one small example out of countless others, and is symbolic of the pride Detroiters have. The sky really is the limit!
As you may know, the entire Detroit area is in the middle of an exciting revitalization, and presents a unique opportunity for us to expand both our business and own a home, as well as becoming part of Detroit's amazing community. While the cost of living in Phoenix is relatively low, property is expensive. As small business owners, the opportunity to own a home and storefront outright is not feasible for us in Arizona. Over the course of 2 years here, we pay $24,000 in rent alone - this could pay for a nice home in Michigan, in full!

Additionally, in Detroit we will have the ability to explore new business concepts, such as urban farming, a sanctuary for at-risk youth, or a hybrid boutique/coffee shop where local artists and musicians would be featured. All this while being able to participate in the renewal of one of our country's greatest cities. It is THE perfect place for us to realize our dream!
Our family has a personal connection to the American auto industry, and we feel a deep sense of pride toward Detroit and everything the city represents. We strongly believe that we can have a positive and direct impact on the city's revitalization and that in 10 years, Detroit will look nothing like it does today. We also know the work ahead of us will be difficult and demanding; we have no illusions that this will be easy. We come from a blue collar, hard-working family, and we welcome the challenge.
What Will the Money Be Used For?
Sadly, many of the buildings throughout southeast Michigan have been severely damaged in the city's economic crisis. While we can get properties inexpensively, they will need extensive repairs to become workable and livable. The money we raise will go entirely toward securing and rehabbing both a home and retail space.
Even small amounts of money can go a long way in this journey. For example, $1.00 will buy a pipe fitting, $3.50 will buy a gallon of gas on our cross-country move, and $10.00 will buy a gallon of paint.
Although we are seeking funding, we are certainly not coming to the table empty-handed. Together with our family, we will be able to do ALL of the work ourselves. Coming from a strong construction background, we have working knowledge of everything from carpentry to plumbing and wiring. With a combination of our savings, know-how and tenacity, along with your support, we will make this happen!
