Help My Family Move

I never thought I would need one of these, but as a mom, I would do anything to provide for my kids.  Please know that I am not doing this out of greed or selfishness, but out of pure humility.

Let me tell you a little about my family for those who may not know the details.  A little over two years ago, I became a foster parent with a desire to help kids in need and with a hope that I might be able to adopt.  On October 16, 2015, my home was blessed with a spunky, bright-eyed 4-year-old girl.  My world has forever been changed because of her!  In June 2017, this now 6-year-old became my forever daughter.  Ellicka is smart, creative, fun-loving, and still as spunky as ever.

Our family changed in January 2017 with the new addition of Ellicka's half-brother.  I was blessed to bring the baby home from the hospital when he was 6 days old.  I held him as he withdrew from the methodone in his system.  I took him to various doctor appointments to make sure that he was healthy, inlcuding blood testing for hepC and an EKG.  This handsome baby boy will soon be 9 months old, is healthy, and is developing right on track.  My hope and prayer is that by the end of the month adoption will be recommended and we'll be heading for court within the next 6 months.  For now, however, the baby continues in foster care.

One of the rules of foster care is that the baby needs his own room by age 1.  (This would be different if the kids were the same sex.)  If you are following along, this means he needs his own room by January 2018.  It's actually perfect timing because our current lease is up.  We also need more space; we are very cramped in our little 2-bedroom apartment right now.   Having my bedroom, the baby's bedroom, and my work office all in one room is getting extremely crowded!

This is where this fund comes into play.  I need some financial assistance to help get my family moved.  (More details later about the breakdown of costs.)

You may be asking yourself, "Why is she asking?  Shouldn't she be able to handle it on her own?"  I would love to answer with a confident yes, but unfortunately, that is not the case for me.  Here is the brutal truth of my sitation.  I am a single mom trying to raise 2 kids making less than $40,000 a year.  I am currently 7 months away from paying off a huge credit card debt that I obtained while working only part-time for years.  In recent years, I have gone into debt with my city taxes, however, those have since been paid off.  I am also paying off student loans that I acquired while getting my masters degree.  I am desperately trying to dig myself out of the hole that I dug, but it is a long and slow-going process.

Again, you may ask, "Why now?  Shouldn't you wait to move until you can save the money?"  If I don't move now, I lose my foster son, and to me, that's unacceptable.  I will fight with everything I've got to keep him.  I will sacrifice what I need to.  I will humbly ask for help.  But I cannot just give up the baby that I have come to love as my own.

A few of the benefits for where we will be moving to (Holland, OH):
- We are staying in the same general area.
- The place has lots of storage room.
- The baby can continue to go to the same day care.
- We can attend the same church.
- Ellicka can continue with dance and in the same Girl Scout troop.

I need to raise the funds as soon as possible.  The deposit and pet fee are due when we move in, which will be in November.  (No exact date yet.)

Right now, the use of the funds are as follows:
$900 deposit for condo (could be less, but won't know until my application is approved)
$450 one-time pet fee
$250 moving truck, turning on utilities, and other moving fees
Anything above this will go for a new bed for Ellicka (she desperately wants out of the bunkbed), possibly a new mattress for me, and saving for the future.

I am just a single mom trying to raise two kids, to give them a better life than what they were born into, and to help make their dreams come true.  Will you please be a difference-maker and help my family move to our new home?

Thank you for your financial help and your continued prayers for my family.  I know that God has blessed us with a wonderful community of supporters, and I am confident that God will pave the way for us in the next phase.
