On February 13, 2014, just shy of her first birthday, our little love Marlowe was diagnosed with Angelman syndrome.

Two doctors patiently told Danny and I what this meant for our family. Marlowe will never live independently. She might not talk or walk. She is likely to have seizures, sleep disturbances and feeding challenges. The attending made it clear that Marlowe will need a lifetime of support and that we’d need support too. And then she congratulated us (for our early diagnosis maybe?)... this didn't land well at the time.

Three months later, i'm open to the possibility there is something to celebrate. Life has more light and love with her by my side. But she does need extra support and right now our priority is getting Marlowe to connect with her body.

Last month she started to roll (an accomplishment so joyfully celebrated our family erupted with a spontaneous dance party) -- this after two blocks of Anat Baniel Method Neuromovement® therapy.

The shift in her is magical. Marlowe is verbalizing more, moving more, and seems much more comfortable in her body. The brain is the most adaptable during a child's first three years, so now is a critical time in Marlowe’s development. Our goal is to raise $19,200 so Marlowe can attend ABM therapy monthly for the next year.

The breakdown:  $1,600 for intensive week of 10 sessions x 12 months = $19,200

Help us give Marlowe the gift of movement. The possibilities are exciting – sitting, crawling, walking!

UPDATE:  We've reached our goal! What a beautiful collective effort. There is comfort in knowing consistent therapy forMarlowe is now possible. This page is no longer accepting donations, but I'm keeping it up because it’s too full of positivity and possibility to take down.

In 2017, I began training to become a Neuromovement® practitioner so I could incorporate this method into Marlowe's daily life and support other families as well. I continue to upgrade my skills and hold Mastery Certification for working with children with special needs. I am based in Toronto, Canada.
