The Palm Collective - Ongoing Collective Action

We are The Palm Collective. We’re connecting individuals and grassroots organizations for the purpose of ending racial violence and creating a powerful community that stands for justice and equity.

We are a grassroots organization founded and based in Washington, DC. On June 4th, 2020, the three of us went to the Black Lives Matter protests at the White House and saw a genuine need for a united front among individuals who want to DO something. Many of us showed up with water, Gatorade, milk (to alleviate the excruciating sting of pepper spray), snacks, food, PPE, etc. but there wasn't a common thread to unite us all. There needed to be some way to consolidate all these efforts and connect the dots, solidify the community, and get people to find their roles in the movement as quickly as possible.  And so, we worked around the clock for two days to form a new collective and made our first outreach appearance on June 6th at the BLM protests and solidarity marches. There are many organizations fighting for social justice, police reform, and racial equality, but a unified coalition to support them all is crucial if we are to sustain this momentum and seriously reshape this country for the betterment of all peoples.

Justice is in the palm of our hands, and together we will exercise our civic duty to create a Powerful Collective Action movement that will transform our society. Please support us and join in on this movement.  We are onsite at the Black Lives Matter Plaza every day possible and have organized or been involved with several initiatives to unite our community, including Freedom Day March on Juneteenth, DemandDC, ReclaimDC,  Protect the Vote - Defend USPS @ PMG DeJoy's House, and many, many others. The list keeps growing every day. Along with it, our network of Activists, Allies, Protesters, Journalists, grows too, and we are uniting and mobilizing these communities in an extraordinary way, to showcase the power of our voices to demand change in real-time.

We are in the midst of securing needed supplies (tents, tables, amplifiers, pick-up trucks, art supplies, speakers, non-perishables, water, clothing, first aid kits, bullhorns, bikes, towels, videography, photography, additional PPE, etc.) and coordinating with other activists in the DMV area to ensure that our Collective Action is maximized and our clear demands and initiatives are vocalized, disseminated, and implemented while all eyes are on the movement for Black lives.

Any contributions or resources you can make to the cause is truly appreciated. Every penny, retweet, like, share, hashtag, and social media post goes directly to funding those who are determined to stay on the front-lines until victory is won.

After months of protests, we are entering a phase in which the movement is at risk of dying out if momentum is not maintained. As the world economy slowly reopens and people return to their jobs and gain a sense of normalcy,  it is critical that frontline activists and our collective actions are supported and our strengths harnessed to push for forever change. We commit to you that your funds will go directly to this cause. Thank you so much for your consideration and please take care of yourself, your loved ones, and all those in between.
