Move Ginna Bell's Bahama Sno Shack

Donation protected
Ginna Bell owns and operates the Bahama Sno and Java To Go shack at 1721 Roanoke Road In Daleville Virginia.

Ginna’s business has been an important part of life in Daleville for 19 years. People of all ages purchase Ginna’s many refreshments…hot, cold, and frozen …every day or several times a week. It’s not just her products that delight, it’s also her smile, good nature, and easy-going conversation. Ginna and her assistants can get a customer’s day off to a good start, or bring a little sunshine to an otherwise cloudy day.

Ginna’s Bahama Sno shack Is a local small business we can all appreciate and feel good to patronize. It’s the timeless formula for mutual benefit. We get a delicious treat, the convenience of drive-up or walk-up service, plus a moment to chat with the owner. In return, Ginna gets to serve the community she loves.

Sadly, Bahama Sno and Java to Go has been evicted from its current location in Daleville, at the crossroads of Routes 220 snd 779. Sheetz will start building on the property very soon, possibly breaking ground one month from now. With only 30 days notice, Ginna must find a new location, where she can continue to serve her customers, and keep the business alive.

Moving the Bahama Sno shack will be very costly. After Ginna’s husband, David, suffered a stroke two years ago, the cost of moving is prohibitive for her. She found a suitable spot about a half-mile from her current location, but zoning, building code, and health department requirements will be costly

Because she is still in the planning stage of the relocation project, Ginna still doesn’t have an accurate estimate of all her costs.  Right now, she knows that adding a bathroom and installing utilities will cost at least $20,000.

With only a short time before she will have to vacate her current location, Ginna must move forward immediately. Ginna needs contributions of at least $15,000 to  establish her business in the new location, where all of her customers can continue to take advantage of the valuable service she renders.

Ginna Bell is exactly the type of small business person we need to keep in Daleville!

A few of us loyal customers have banded together to assist Ginna while she continues working hard to keep her business going during this challenging time.

You can assist Ginna, too. Please contribute what you can to be sure Ginna’s neighbors, friends, and devoted customers can continue to enjoy the valuable service she offers at the Bahama Sno and Java To Go shack.
