"The Backstory"
Patty and Alex Ramirez share a love so deep and wide that they don't let life's obstacles hold them down. Patty is the strongest person we have ever known and once she and Alex joined together, they became twice as strong. They raise Patty's daughter, Aiyana together and have created this amazing little family. Alex was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and although it was a devastating blow to their family, they rallied together to do what they had to to get through it. It was important to them to try and bring a new life into this world, a legacy to Alex; a baby brother for Aiyana; and hope for Patty. Through IVF, Patty was able to conceive a baby boy who they would call Alejandro Jr. Ramirez.
Patty was able to carry their sweet baby to almost term and was induced on September 20, 2018. She suffered severe complications during delivery and while she left fighting for her life, their baby boy was transported to Seattle Children's Hospital. Patty remains in the ICU with serious medical issues. She is on dialysis as her kidney's are not functioning and her blood pressure remains dangerously high. Even with this doverwhelming news, Patty told us "even if I have to be on dialysis for the rest of my life, at least I will be alive." Baby Alex suffers from Infant Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE), which is a type of brain damage that occurs when an infant's brain doesn't receive enough oxygen and blood. We do not yet know severe the damage is to his little body. This is the most powerful, most destructive, and crippling experience to ever happen to this amazing family and they need your help!

This family has worked so hard to create a peaceful life for themselves and Aiyana. Patty worked as a selfless nurse before this life shattering medical situation has left her unable to work or to bring in much needed income. We created this gofundme to help with the medical costs and to support this family through this difficult time. As they work through healing within their own hearts and lives, we ask for help from anyone who is able to contribute financially to help lighten the load for them.
