<div>So, to give this long story an abbreviation: My elderly father, whom I've been living with and taking care of for the past 6-7 years, started having several strokes starting in September of last year. We had Dad undergo vascular surgery to address the cause, but that didn't end up working as Dad suffered his worst series of strokes starting on Mother's Day this year and then several more when he was staying for an extended stay in a physical rehab center. He had to be transferred to the critical care unit and stayed there for over a month, and as of this week, he'll be transferred to a nursing facility several towns over to be treated for his newly-developed left-side paralysis.

<div>It was clear, there was no way me and my girlfriend of ten years, Fran, could continue to live in my dad's house. To pay for the numerous ambulance and hospital bills, Dad and the rest of the family would need to sell the house and other properties to make sure my dad gets the treatment he needs. So, we made the difficult choice to move down to where my mom lives in Texas. And in doing so, we had to spend the vast majority of our savings to do so.

<div>This fundraiser is to recoup the costs from the move, pay off any debts we occurred, and raise enough money to reasonably live off of until we can fully situate ourselves here in Texas.
