Mouse Island Swim 2018

The crossing of the sea passage of approximately 5.6km between Mouse Island and Kalkan Beach was first done in 2011 by two English resident friends as a personal challenge and to raise some money for a distressed young local man who had lost his leg in an accident.

2018 will be the 8th consecutive year of the swim which has raised approximately 140,000 TL for local causes and a growing number of local people have taken part. The swim is not a race. It is a celebration of sport, friendship and life. We swim as a group and finish together on the beach where a large number of people welcome us in.

This year on Saturday 15th September,  we are swimming to raise money for AKUT Kaş Kalkan.  AKUT is entirely a voluntary, non-governmental organization involved in searching, assisting and rescuing all who require aid within its authority and means, in mountain or other nature-related accidents, natural disasters and all other emergency conditions by means of trained, disciplined, high-standard personnel and equipment, passing on knowledge to society with no political affiliation.

Local people, expats and tourists visiting Kalkan can all benefit from the services of AKUT and their trained search and rescue voluntary teams may even save their lives!  If you are in Kalkan on 15th September - please come down to the town beach to welcome us in! 


Wohltätigkeits-Schwimmen von Mouse Island zum Kalkan Strand

Das Schwimmen der etwa 5,6 km langen Seepassage zwischen Mouse Island und Kalkan Beach wurde erstmals 2011 von zwei englischstämmigen Freunden als persönliche Herausforderung unternommen, um Geld für einen notleidenden jungen Mann vor Ort zu sammeln, der bei einem Unfall sein Bein verloren hatte.

2018 wird das siebte Jahr in Folge sein, in dem rund 140.000 TL für lokale Zwecke gesammelt wurden und eine wachsende Anzahl von Einheimischen teilgenommen hat. Das Schwimmen ist kein Rennen. Es ist eine Veranstaltung des Sports, der Freundschaft und des Lebens. Wir schwimmen als Gruppe und enden zusammen am Strand, wo uns eine große Anzahl von Menschen willkommen heißt.

Dieses Jahr, am Samstag, 15. September, schwimmen wir, um Geld für AKUT Kaş Kalkan zu sammeln. AKUT ist eine freiwillige, nichtstaatliche Organisation, die sich um die Suche, Unterstützung und Rettung aller bemüht, welche im Rahmen ihrer Befugnisse und Mittel bei Berg- oder anderen naturbedingten Unfällen, Naturkatastrophen und allen anderen Notfällen Hilfe durch geschultes, diszipliniertes, hoch qualifiziertes Personal benötigen, sowie Weitergabe von Wissen an die Gesellschaft ohne politische Zugehörigkeit.

Einheimische und Touristen, die Kalkan besuchen, können alle von diesen Diensten von AKUT profitieren. Ihre ausgebildeten Such- und Rettungsmannschaften können auch ihr Leben retten!
