Mounting Medical Bills and Bills

Hi everyone. My name is Sabrina Wilkinson. I am a mom of 2 grown sons, Michael 27 and Emory 25. I have 3 grandkids, Hazel 7, Elliot 5 and Arlo 19 months by Michael and their mother Alicia. Most live with my husband John and I in our home except Emory since they lost everything including their house during hurricane Ian on Fort Myers Beach.

I never expected to make a GoFundMe page, but I have had a lot of medical problems and bills start adding up starting in August of this year.
On August 9, 2024, I woke up with the side of my face swollen and painful. I went to Cape Coral Hospital ER. I was diagnosed with facial cellulitis caused by a tooth infection that was in my sinuses. While I was being processed in the ER, I produced a urine sample that was very dark brown, which was very alarming. I was admitted and started antibiotics immediately for my infection in my face and sinuses. During my hospitalization, my kidneys started to show renal failure. I had a kidney biopsy done that showed that I had atypical anti-glomerular basement membrane antibody disease. This is a rare kidney disease that has about 100 cases in the USA and also attacks my lungs. Basically, my antibodies are attacking my kidneys and lungs. Taking antibiotics really makes my kidneys and lungs go into overdrive and start attacking the organs.

I was released from the hospital and needed to take care of my dental work ASAP since I would require more antibiotics. I got most of my teeth removed and got dentures on top and partial dentures on the bottom.

I was supposed to start my chemo medicine to suppress the antibodies, but couldn't due to the dental work and antibiotics.

On 9/13, I received a text from my employer telling me that my position was no longer available after 9 years.

On November 3, 2024, I was hospitalized with RSV. I immediately started to go into renal failure again. I was hospitalized until 11/10. I left the hospital for 1 day before I was back again. This time I was hospitalized for pneumonia by an infectious agent. I was drowning and had to be on 6 lpm of oxygen. They performed a bronchoscopy to clean out the lungs and check for bleeding in the lungs.

I was discharged on 11/24.

I have numerous doctor appointments and PT appointments to help with dizziness and endurance. I've started my chemo meds and they are $1000 for every 3 months. I'm not able to work right now and my medical bills and regular bills are piling up.

On 12/10/2024 I have been admitted into Lee Memorial hospital with plural effusion among other diagnosis. I have had 3000ml of plural fluid removed by chest tube that was inserted 12/11 I had another bronchoscopy performed to get more biopsies to verify infectious agent. So far the plural fluid contains Staphylococcus aureus. Still no word on when I will be released.

I'm fundraising to cover my medical bills and living expenses while I am unable to work due to my health conditions.

This fundraiser is for me, as I navigate through these challenging health issues and financial burdens.
