Mountain Opera Company Donations

Brand new to the Manchester, Vermont's classical music summer scene is Mozart in the Mountains, the Mountain Opera Company's inaugural festival. Our mission is to continue fostering the classical arts within the southern Vermont community as well as the greater New England area. We seek to provide entertainment, education, and empower those living in Manchester through our festival program, "A Night with Mozart", a recital consisting of Mozart scenes and arias (Saturday July 20th at 5pm), as well as a semi-staged production of his beloved comedy, "Così fan tutte" (Sunday July 21st at 2pm).

We chose to begin our company's journey with Mozart because his works and their messages are still pertinent to a 21st century audience. In particular, society has issues when it comes to equality and the conversations surrounding this socio-political topic.  Though times were different in the 18th century, the topic of men and women's role in society was not. And Mozart was writing at a time, when the Enlightenment began to give way to some equality between men and women for the very first time in Western History. Though men still dominated as first class citizens, women could be first class citizens through love. That is where they found their power, and Mozart exposes this, not only in "Così fan tutte",  but also in his many other works which will be featured on our recital.

All donations will be put towards the cost of production which includes, advertisement, props, essential costume pieces (for the many disguises in the opera!), piano tuning, resident artist's  travel within Manchester, and rehearsal fees leading up to the performances. In total we have worked the cost out to be $1500 and anyone who would like to donate will be recognized in our program. You may also be anonymous if you so choose; however, we want to make sure you know how much we appreciate your support in our endeavors.
