Eight months ago, Ruth fell and broke her leg, then broke it again in another place a month later. The broken femur wouldn’t heal, so they took a piece of bone from her hip and put it in her leg. Then they put her in quarantine for 6 weeks while the bones fought the infection. She is finally able to sit up and get out of bed. When she gets a motorized wheelchair, she can use the joystick to motor around and not have to ask for help being pushed around. That will add a big boost to her quality of life.
Ruth was born in Brooklyn and grew up loving old movies, then got a degree in Theater Arts. She directed several plays, including some while living in Anchorage, Alaska, and did lots of costume design. She resumed her theater life in New York and New Jersey, and was a member if IATSE Union Locals 534 and 52 for many years doing props and set decorations, and dressing actors. If you look on iMDB.com, she has several credits for some of the films she worked on.
All of us who have worked with, lived with and loved Ruth over the years want to help her to get this new wheelchair and improve her quality of life. Please contribute to this worthy cause!
