Moto Village Project

I am raising funds to bring solar energy to Moto Village. The village is in the Mangochi area, near the southern tip of Lake Malawi. This area suffers from underdevelopment because many people who opposed the dictatorship of Kamuzu Banda originated from there. During "Lifetime President" Kamuzu Banda's 30 year reign, hundreds of people were imprisoned and executed from Moto Village. Houses were burnt to the ground. There has been no strong effort to repair the damage done to the potential of this region from 1965 until today. The story cannot be found in history books.

I have personal interest in this village as these were the people who supported my father in his resistance against Banda in the late 1960s. Because of their dedication, I exist today as my father was able to survive and flee in exile to the United States.   The first stage of our WIN Malawi solar project will happen in October, 2018. I am launching this GoFundMe project on my birthday and will be taking the collected funds directly to Moto Village with my mother, Catherine Chipembere.
