Mother's Funeral Expense Fund

It pains me to have to have to write this, knowing that my mother would never want me to share her private business, or have to ask for money on her behalf, but unfortunately that’s what I must do. My mother, Debra George was diagnosed with a stage 4 Glioblastoma brain tumor in the Spring of 2015 while living in Georgia while my sister attended college. Fortunately my mother has top notch health insurance, and was able to seek treatment at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville Florida. My mother underwent surgery the first week of June 2015, which was a success, and endured several rounds of chemotherapy. Through the grace of God my mother remained in remission until a re-diagnosis this late February.

Despite the success of my mothers surgery, and the remission of the tumor, she was faced with many physical, and neurological challenges. When my mother returned to Santa Monica in the Fall of 2015 she suffered several massive seizures that were comparable to strokes, and despite the physical, and mental challenges created by the seizures, my mother and family remained optimistic about her recovery.

In addition to the health issues my mother has faced since her return, she was also burdened with being temporarily displaced after a minor apartment fire, and by the loss of her mother. My mother was put into a medically induced coma at UCLA due to a drop in blood pressure the second week of March, and incubated with a breathing tube, and she has not been fully awoke since the incubation.

Although she was initially somewhat responsive, and indicated her awareness of our presence at her bedside by blinking and opening her eyes, the tumor has taken it's toll, and she is no longer responsive, and on the verge of being declared neurologically braindead. During this chaotic ordeal, my mother stopped paying her life insurance policy, and unfortunately the policy lapsed. My goal is to raise enough money to have her buried next to my great grandmother, in Woodlawn cemetery in Santa Monica. The cost will run approximately $11,000-$15,000, and I only have $5,000 set aside. My sister and I are both in debt with student loans, and any financial help would be greatly appreciated, as we try to avoid her being buried in a place she didn't grow up in, or cremation. Prayers will be greatly appreciated from those unable to contribute. Thank you and God Bless.
