Mother of 3 With Chronic Disease

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Terry Musslewhite. I am the eldest son of Regina Musslewhite, a mother, a daughter, a friend, and a person worth investing in. My mom is the most selfless person I have ever known. She constantly puts everyone's needs and wants before hers, sometimes even at the extent of her physical, mental, and emotional health. My mother's dream is to help people. I've watched her invest her time and love into people that she has only known for a few days, or even that she hasn't even met. My mom has taken in people that had nowhere else to go, fought for people that have none left in them, and given to those who have nothing. She has helped raise money for people on this website. She has spent days and nights in Atlanta in order to feed, clothe, and raise awareness for the unfair treatment of the homeless population. For all of my life, my mother has done nothing but good for her family and the people that she cares about.

My mother has struggled with a rare, chronic, and extremely dangerous kidney disease for all of her life. She is required to see her nephrologist (kidney doctor) every three months. She has been border-line for dialysis several times. Throughout her 39 years of life, my mother has had over ten surgeries, some botched and some successful. She has been considered near-death over 6 times. Doctors have turned her away, calling her pancreatitis a "stomach bug". They have discharged her several times when she desperately needed emergency medical attention. Due to her kidney disease, her body does not process acids, causing her blood to become acidic and wear down her bones and muscles. Her blood literally eats a the calcium and potassium in her body, making her very prone to fractures, breaks, and infection thereafter.

Because of the disease, her body works overtime to produce calcium, without spreading it throughout her body. The calcium her body has produced has built up around the vertebrae in her spine, pinching her nerves and spinal chord. She spent months, going to doctors that incorrectly diagnosed her, gave her epidurals, and made her go through intense physical therapy. All of this made her situation escalate to the point of having numbness from her ribs to her toes. After a trip to another doctor and many tests, they finally found the problem and scheduled a surgery for her spine. It has been four days since her surgery and she has a very long way to go until she makes a recovery.

Through all of these surgeries, we have had to file bankruptcy 4 times, and the expenses of the medical bills on top of what it costs to run a household of eight people is overbearing. Everyone in the house is working their hardest to bring in enough money to continue buying the things that we need and to pay for the medical bills. By donating to our GoFundMe, you will be helping a mother with a terrible disease, a 4-year-old that is starting pre-K, a 15-year-old with special needs, an 18-year-old college freshman, a worried husband that works 60 hours a week, and a 70-year-old grandfather that is worried out of his mind. Any sort of donation is crucial to our cause, whether it be 1, 5, 10, or 100 dollars. Every single penny is appreciated in this desperate time that we are going through.

Please share on your facebook, instagram, twitter, and anything else you can think of to get this out to as many people as possible. Once again, thank you so much. We appreciate this more than anyone can know.
