Mother of 2 with Stage 4 Cancer

Donation protected

Kimberly Reschke, a vibrant, positive, single mother of 2 children on Salt Spring Island, has been diagnosed with stage four cancer that includes metastasis to other areas of her body.

*I would like to note that I have edited the original post on this gofundme to better reflect our current situation. Most recent updates have been posted below.

Sept 2021, My mom is back home on salt spring after over two weeks in the hospital and has been getting a little bit stronger each day.

At the beginning of this year, my mom was diagnosed with stage four cancer. This diagnosis was very abrupt and unexpected as she is extremely health-conscious and up until this had next to no health issues throughout her lifetime.

As you can imagine this has taken a huge toll on our family, although we are maintaining our positivity best we can. We are incredibly thankful for the love and support we have received from our community, nothing goes unseen. However, my mom has not been able to work since late December 2020 and will not be able to in the foreseeable future. And between the cost of living, taking care of all our animals, and what my mom needs to heal, it quickly adds up. I am hoping to share this page once again, as I do not want my mom to reach a financial barrier that impedes her recovery.

My mom is caring, compassionate and selfless, always finding a way to help others grow and heal. If you know my mom whether as a friend, a physiotherapist, or one just of the moms at the lake, then you know this is an understatement of my moms’ character. And I hope she can continue to experience some of that sincere love and compassion personally that she undoubtedly deserves. Funds raised will go to direct costs associated with her recovery. If something changes and a trust fund is required for myself and my little sister, that will be communicated directly here.

Kimberly had an ultrasound on her pelvis in September 2019, and nothing was detected. This is a reminder to please go for any and all appropriate checkups regarding your health and listen to your body when it needs help. Kimberly merely thought she had a severe stomach ache before getting diagnosed.

Her theme song right now is Fight Song by Rachel Platten and we hope when you hear it you lift Kimberly up positively in your thoughts and prayers, seeing her healed, whole and living life fully.
