<div>So as everybody knows, I recently got scammed, trusting a friend who was supposedly going to be renting to us. Because of the scam we lost precious time in finding housing. I currently landlord is raising rent for the property that we are at and renting it out to somebody else so we don’t have the option of staying here as you all know our relationship with the current landlord went downhill when she found out about our religious views, and then she decided to use the chickens to blame us breaking the lease, even though I have in text message her explicitly saying that we had her permission for the pets. Since she cannot claim our religious beliefs are WHY she blamed the chickens, which we promptly began to rehome (as in text) she assured us if the chickens were rehomes she would not ask us to leave. After rehoming our babies she stated she is asking us to leave for other reasons (to “teach us a lesson” that had nothing to do with the chickens &lt; as she verbally stated) but then she sited the chickens again on paper. I reminded her that with David and I both being autistic I do not pick up on unread social cues and I prefer her to just state what she means without back and forth. A close and dear friend who has had significant time around MY child (and many others) then allowed us to rent out her home. While I confirmed with her many times that she would not change her mind because we had two months to find housing and we were going to give our notice that we would be leaving on a specific date. She assured me that all she desired was for my child and I to be safe. We trusted her. We paid her a deposit. We had a move in truck secured and paid. A couple days prior to moving her mother told me from the window of her car we could not rent. Now the details of this are at BEST spotty since the mother lied about time frames and knowledge and other things confirmed to be false, but in the end, the reality is that the home that we were supposed to be moving into and that our dear friend had even pressured me into changing my son‘s school address too was simply not going to be somewhere we were going to be able to move in to. I did call the police, I did get our initial deposit back, however, those two months that I should have been saving for a larger deposit and first and last months rent elsewhere is now gone and passed. I am filling out five applications for housing tonight. Each of those applications ranges from $35-$50 fee. The moving truck is no longer fully paid as we will now need to undoubtedly move farther than the original estimate. With the added distance as well as potential staircases we no longer have the moving truck fully funded. There is also the probability that we will need to put items in a storage unit I was not budgeting to need. We are likely going through realtors for housing now to avoid scams which adds about $1500 onto move in costs we were simply not prepared for. At BEST and cheapest move in will cost no less than 3,500 but one of the realtors told me to estimate about 5000 after fees are done and that I may need to add an extra months of rent upfront due to my poor credit and rush for timing. Times are hard for ALL of us. I do not have $5,000-10,000 laying around. And I know no one else does either. I feel like a burden and ashamed to beg, but here I am. The alternative is that we may end up completely displaced, which may happen anyway if the current landlord decides that her religious or political views override the fact that we have never once in 2.5 years missed a rent payment. I am tired. I am desperate. I may end up needing a storage unit and them for us to pay for a hotel until we secure housing. I’m not sure, all I know is that I don’t want to be apart from my child and my child needs a stable healthy safe roof over his head no matter what. If anyone has anything at all it will be so appreciated, embarrassingly so, but this is really all I have left in me because simply I have no other bit of “rally” in me. I am tired. I feel I have endless shortcomings as a mother but to not have a roof over my childs head feels like the ultimate letdown. I am not worthy of anyones help, but please consider that he may be if nothing else please consider sharing or maybe just sending out intentions of safety and belonging into the ether for us.
